On a ride on #Montreal 's newly opened REM light-metro line, I learned that the builders discovered crates full of explosives.

They'd been cached in bedrock in a century-old tunnel around the time of the Spanish Flu, and then forgotten.

Here's the view through the 5-km-long tunnel...

Something else I learned: the trainsets are a version of the Alstom Metropolis (which also runs in Shanghai, Paris, Sydney) known as the St. Laurent. Those slash-marks on the front are the headlights, which are meant to evoke the cables on the Champlain Bridge.
