The collective capacity of the 22 million generators in Nigeria (~42 GW) is eight times the capacity of the national grid (~5.4 GW).

This is a staggering figure, and (I think - napkin math) is costing Nigerian generator owners around $50B every year for diesel.

There is a major opportunity for solar and batteries in Nigeria.

@Tallish_Tom You could factor health care costs in there too. Diesel fumes are not benign.

Add to that: with oil theft rampant, and diesels able to burn a wide range of stuff that looks vaguely like hydrocarbons, you have to think the pollution is a problem.

(I never confirmed rumours of oil field workers putting Bakken crude straight into their diesel pickup trucks...)

Do you know what the generator profile is? Are we talking new Generacs or knock-off Lister's with a washing machine motor on the flywheel? (No disrespect intended to 🇳🇬, the latter is the McGyver solution.)
