There is a shop near our house that has stood empty for a number of years, and, this being Venice, when they started renovating it a few weeks ago there was a distinct feeling of trepidation as to what it was going to turn into - yet another shop of plastic tourist tat? yet another shop of nasty handbags? - so I am delighted to report that it is in fact going to be a bookshop! 馃槏 They were starting to stock the shelves when I walked past earlier, and the New Book smell reached all the way out into the street 馃槉
