In the past, the culture of the Social Web itself has felt unwelcoming to those marginalised by Western society. This is not acceptable. The Social Web is a place for everyone who can treat others with respect and decency. It belongs to no one. We welcome everyone, no matter their culture or religion, and trust that they too will welcome the diverse opinions and voices of the Social Web.

It’s unfair to presume that a person would be educated on the experiences of others from different countries, cultures, and beliefs. But to welcome diversity to the Social Web, we should make a collective effort to learn. We’re not experts. Our commuity team are all from the English countryside. We’re not always perfect, but we try to take time to educate ourselves. We hope that by sharing that knowledge on the Social Web, others may too learn about the experiences of those different to them. Together, we can make this space more welcoming.
