I was confused about why so many people were talking about Magic the Gathering, and why no post made sense (I haven't played in 30 years, but I still know what it is about).
Then, I realized that MTG doesn't mean "Magic the Gathering" anymore.
People need to quit their addiction to acronyms as well as their US-defaultism and need to relearn how to use hashtags. (and I have one more keyword to mute)

#MTG #MagicTheGathering #NOTMagicTheGathering

@DavidBHimself thankfully with that politician quitting the #mtg hashtag can be reclaimed by #magicthegathering players, though your point stands as the initalism keeps the game obscure to outsiders.

@DavidBHimself
When I started using Mastodon I spent a lot of time deciphering acronyms. Now I can't be bothered: if a toot looks like gibberish, it's probably not relevant to me.

I get caught out by the old colonial habit of naming (or renaming) towns after places in Europe, especially England. Recently read most of an increasingly puzzling thread about Bad Happenings in Cambridge before realising it wasn't the one I know.
