💡 Request for ideas from the #sewing and #crafts community:

I want to make sets of linen dinner napkins as Christmas gifts for families. My original idea was to embroider their last name on the corner of the napkins (before hemming, to hide the backs), but I don’t have an embroidery machine and the letters on my Juki DX7 domestic sewing machine don’t look nice enough.

How else could I do this in a cost-effective repeatable way that looks elegant?

@DanielMenjivar Depending on where you're based, some libraries have an embroidery machine e.g. the BANQ in Montreal

@researchfairy A Toronto Library has one too, but you have to take an introductory class first. Registration for the class is only available 5 days prior and is full/sold out in seconds. I haven’t had any luck in 18 months of trying.

I don’t have a Cricut machine to do iron-on vinyl, but I could look into it if people think it will look good, isn’t too expensive, and if it will last through several washes.

I also thought about going to the Muji store or finding an embroidery shop, but that could add up fast, and it might be hard to get an exact placement since they won’t be hemmed yet?

Also, some families don’t share the same last names, so this idea won’t work, in which case, I’ll need a different gift idea…
