it's not just you, ~everyone fucking hates bright LED headlights
Post

@davidgerard I'm regularly anoyed at headlamps like 500m away from me. From my apartment, on the forth floor!
@davidgerard
1. Mandate more old fashioned amber color from headlights.
2. Mandate minimum light source area.
3. Mandate a height range (above road), and also distance range to edge of vehicle silhouette.
@davidgerard and every single one who has LED-lights tells me "no, mine aren't the problem. My car has this automatic that turns them brighter when there is no traffic and turns th down when there is traffic."
- Yes, that's also the fucking problem. This adjustment-stuff doesn't work properly, you f*ing i*t!
@davidgerard I will add my own personal little rant about other bicycle riders coming towards me with insanely bright LED lights worn on their heads of all places, directed parallel to the ground and straight into my eyes, instead of at the ground in front of them. so, yeah, *everyone* hates LED lights.
@davidgerard the solution is clearly to remove all cars.
@davidgerard (that's not sarcasm the world wo uld be so much better without everything being centred around cars so much)
@davidgerard I wonder if part of the problem is that now SUVs are so popular, beam heights are greater.
Blinding LED headlights are such a glaring example of why “if it is not a problem for me, it is not a problem” always turns out to be a problem for us all.
@davidgerard got blinded while walking home yesterday. By a taxi idling on the other side of the road 🤬
It's unsafe for everyone: Drivers and pedestrians. And worse when it's those jacked-up American utes.
@davidgerard (and let's not mention the ebikes, also a problem)
@davidgerard these are compounded by how tall cars are now, specially the yank tanks for mostly dudes with insecurities, worse is Chinese taking the cues and building much cheaper clone tanks with leds only and no auto follow steer/levelling etc.
@davidgerard I wonder how many accidents and deaths have happened due to blind drivers
@davidgerard Huh, maybe they are all optimized for right-hand traffic or something? (Yes I know they have different setups, I can even change mine in a menu)
I love my car's "matrix LED" lights and I don't have any problems with other cars.
Apart from those fuckers who put illegal LED aftermarket bulbs in H7 headlamps, they can fuck right off
@davidgerard it should be added to MoT and NCT and car should be failed. Manufacturers are charged the bill for installing them in the first place
