This article fails to mention that the last time this was covered in any news, it had been used 10 times since it was introduced in 2016, and jewellery was never taken.
It was championed by right-wing politicians and was broadly criticized (nationally as well as internationally).
The principle followed the process for social benefits; an applicant with savings of a certain value is not elegible to receive unemployment benefits from the state - the savings are expected to cover personal costs until they run out.
