Trump said other countries were paying the tariffs.

Now he is removing tariffs to help US consumers… who were paying the tariffs.

@randahl

He doesn't have the legal power to impose tarrifs in any case!

@russellt correct — he does not. This is a power which resides in Congress. The only reason he is getting away with imposing tariffs is, he falsely claims there is an emergency similar to a war. This is currently being tested in The Suppreme Court, and I expect him to lose.

@randahl and yet I still can't buy something from a European company without at least a 18% extra tax placed on the item.

And he's the crux in my mind. The colonists back in 18th century were paying a total of 7% tax (a half percent lower than the current state tax I pay where I live) and look at what they did to the government.

I'm not against taxation, any government has to, but I'm definitely paying way more than the colonist did and they ousted a King.

@randahl under donalds logic, I’m officially considered a country. Ordered samples from China and paid the import duties/tariffs.

@randahl

Tariffs are taxes on foreign (imported) goods - paid by national consumers.
