The scammers may have :Mastodon: Mastodon logos as their profile pictures and are posing as technical support.

The scammers are not that bright. If the account was really suspended, the user would not see the phish bait anyway.

The really bad thing is that they were able to post scams to start with. One of them has 40 scam posts in their profile. If anyone finds a way of stopping this before the first scam post of a new profile, or blocking them immediately after one is posted, that would be great.
There is a very effective method, which is for admins to switch off instant sign-ups.
All of the scammers in these waves have been on servers that allow accounts to instantly be active without any admin approving the signup first.
