Probably still early to speculate. Either someone can confirm if @elk is still being maintained, or someone needs to take over maintenance.

There hasn't been much updates, but it still fills the gap where Phanpy falls short.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@cheeaun/111800322951422386

For context, Elk is community-driven, started/maintained by a 6-dev team, takes in more external contributions, and caters to the masses. Its Twitter/X-like UI also helps ease the "migration".

Phanpy exists thanks to Elk & other existing 3rd-party (web) clients (Sengi, Statuzer, Pinafore, Semaphore, Trunks, etc). It began when I decided *not* to make another similar client, but a space for UI experiments and ideas.

@cheeaun I switched to Phanpy because Elk can't do quote posts (yet). Been really enjoying myself, but I do miss Elk.
Kinda losing hope after 9 months without an update..

@cheeaun One of the reasons I am proud to use Phanpy (beyond it just being a great experience) is your positivity towards other developers and clients. Thanks for your work!

@cheeaun @elk One suggestion that would not detract from the minimalism of the app would be to have the logos of each account (for much faster account switching than is currently possible) on the home screen.

@cheeaun @elk The only thing unique to Elk that I sometimes used was the profile feed with the likes/boosts/replies count for each post.

@cheeaun @elk the main thing I use elk for rather than phanpy is going thru a list of new followers and deciding to follow back or not. That works smoothly in elk and is harder to do (more jumping back and forth, more confusion on my part) in phanpy.

@cheeaun@mastodon.social
I'm afraid, it's not being maintained anymore.
Hopefully, someone can take over.
