@ranagmbh Seems legit but why not be more Luddite about it, instead of just moving the scam to EU?
@gittaca In my opinion AI has good use cases, especially when it comes to automatization and support of data analysis. I don’t think it’s a scam. But the future projections for AI of the big tech companies, that’s where the problem lies.

Seriously though: That "will stay" statement sounds strangely similar to "#CoVID will become endemic". Designed to induce apathy. Very fitting, given that both cause neurological problems. One could even go as far as looking at both's timelines and wonder whether it might be profitable to push both.
I've tried pushing for #DavosSafe office air at my employer and was rebuffed. Since then: both #BrainFog & GenAI abound.
@gittaca I understand your perspective. But AI will stay, hopefully on a reasonable scale. Edge AI could be a way to leverage specialized, efficient models on-device.
@ranagmbh I only mean GenAI offers as a whole, and not just _what's produced_. Rampant externalisation of environmental costs, e-waste (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transistor_aging#Causes), etc. How's that worth any part of the 1% non-trash/-scam output?
Yes, LLMs and GenAI are a big part right now, but there are also models focusing on visual AI in combination with machine learning.
We can agree that 99% of what people do with Sora and Veo is between trash and scam.
