I got very mad about the Australian government's absolutely useless "Whole of Government AI Plan" and wrote a very long post.

Feedback welcome. I'm not an expert.

@parisba Bloody marvellous work.
Explicit connections with and comparisons to robodebt are essential. Regrettably, the APS needs to feel A LOT more personal, career and financial pain before they change course.

@parisba excellent article, thank you for putting in the effort so we can easily share a detailed analysis.
Can you please clarify the following: "This creates an 18-month gap where the government can probably deploy and run high-risk, black-box AI slop machines without mandatory disclosure".
What are the two dates that make
an 18-month gap? I couldn't figure it out from the text and references.

@parisba
I toot to comment on one important aspect of the #APS and the #KoolAid addled ideas about the adoption of #GenAI #SlopMachiine in the APS.

There is a great chasm between the credibility of loyal Australian public servants who go about their daily tasks and the absolute crap dished out by most ot the #SES-ranked ‘contracted staff’ in the most senior positions of the APS.

Treat anything said by an SES with a grain of salt as most of it will be ‘politically motivated’ with no little ‘self interest’ being foremost. It has been so ever since the SES scheme (rort in my book) has been in operation.

@parisba You make a good case. I would have used a few " in my view" and "in my opinion" and "could be seen as" in order to avoid being sued for defamation.

@parisba Tiny piece of structural feedback - your first use of "old mate" is before you tie that term to Hansford (next sentence implies it contextually, but I still ended up searching for other uses to confirm)

@parisba > This is not an AI strategy; it is a Microsoft procurement plan.

Yeah. Sigh
