Search request support for archive, vinyl, history, radio, physical media folk:

See this 1971 KGIL earthquake reporting record? Seeking similar albums & striking out using words like live news broadcast, disasters, emergencies, etc. What terms would you search for? (Or do you have album recs?!)

(this is a query i'm posting for another person, any thoughts #radio #ham #vinyl #disaster people? TIA!)

A vinyl album cover in yellow with black images and words that read “ February 9, 1971. The San Fernando Valley‘s longest day. As reported by KGIL radio.” The image of the valley and freeway is interrupted by large jagged rifts to convey the San Fernando earthquake damage.

@inquiline

This is a fun question, it reminds me of Monty Python's “World War Noises.”

Using the Discogs tags for your record — Interview, Field Recording, Public Broadcast — I found a few other “disaster” recordings. They tend more to war and assassination than natural disaster:

@inquiline That's so incredibly niche. I'm no true crate digger, but in all my time getting dusty fingers I've never seen anything like that. Good luck!

@inquiline @abraxas3d Hmm, just tossed out a giant pile of newspapers from that earthquake someone gave me, but I had no storage space for.
