Josh Griffiths @joshsjunkdrawer, another non fan of Microsoft Recall, was determined to switch his desktop PC from Windows to a graphics and media heavy Linux setup. It took him seven months and half a dozen distros but he finally got there. And you won't believe what boring distro he ended up picking.

Mint really is the best distro. In fact, as a Linux user since 1997, it is the only one I recommend these days.

I recently installed Fedora on a Framework desktop. I would much rather be using Mint but it only had unofficial support from Framework. Fedora uses KDE Plasma. This is my first time using it but I still prefer Cinnamon. Fedora seems ok though, but still a bit jankier than Mint. They all are!

@MagisterLudi I run Mint Cinnamon on a System76 Merkaat. The distro supports the full hardware just fine out ot the box with no need for System76's custom drivers (which may actually break APT packaging).

I expect that Mint is just fine on the Framework Desktop, but since it isn't my primary machine I decided not to chance it. I may put Mint on there eventually. Fedora does tend to be a bit more cutting edge, which may be helpful for what I'm using this device for.

@amoroso @joshsjunkdrawer If you're having success with Linux Mint, and with Debian, I'd suggest Linux Mint Debian Edition.

@amoroso @joshsjunkdrawer I'm guessing Debian! That's the distro I wound up with after going through about a half dozen myself.
