So while I was framing this shot up, trying to get all of the elements right where I wanted them, I was backing up, backing up, backing up, when suddenly . . . I remembered another one of these dudes was behind me. I stopped and looked back just in time!

(From my campsite tonight, west of Oatman on old RT66.)

A color portrait photo of cactus in a rocky landscape with jagged hills in the background. There are three clumps of cacti. They are of the same type. Two are short and one is tall, about five feet tall. They have dark, dried up trunks with bulbous tops of many fat fingers of very spiky short limbs. The tall one is on the right, a short one next to it on the left, and another short one behind the one of the left. Further back on the left is a taller plant, about eight feet tall that is comprised of many long narrow crooked stalks.
