@Soweitsogut No, but they cant cook without electricity. They cant cool it, they cant even order it without electricity.

And if your smart enough as Farmer you can grow your crops underneath solarpanels. Works great. #Solarpunk #Permaculture

FYI you can get transparent solar panels too. This is where panels ought to be, on roofs, where soil is already covered by building footprints. Not covering hectares of productive farmland.

The only reason Think Big "solar farms" are happening is that they're easier for financiers to extractors value from. They're the least likely to be where energy is used, and less likely to be well maintained long-term.

i agree, there are way better places for solarpanels. But it has some benefits on farms to. It is easy to install and easy to remove and farmers need also electricity. It brings shade for plants and animals, protects the animals from rain or flying predators or you can store someting underneath.

Your absolutely right, we cant put everything on fields but we do use other places also.

To be clear, I'm not criticising rural use of solar panels, at all. Households and businesses in rural areas are the most likely to pay higher line charges, and to get power cuts in emergencies. Microgeneration and sodium ion battery banks are a great way to hedge against both.

Farms and other rural facilities have roofs too, and that's the sensible place for rural solar panels to be ; )
