There is plenty going *wrong* in the world right now. And I feel like I hear about all of it, all the time.

If I may ask; if you're involved in Linux or FOSS communities, what do you see going *right* lately? What things are giving you optimism? Are there any new developments worth following that would encourage people?

@jzb for me, I feel like there’s a general boost in FOSS work. This isn’t new, but it just feels different. Like big tech is shining lights on all of the horrors, so folks are recoiling back into open-source environments. Not universally, just a little more.

I see lots of developers making things just because. No other reason. And that’s the cool part of the web.

@jzb When I see an on-line map, chances are it's now Open Street Map: Transport for London; National Trust, even booking a local taxi.

Non techies in our local walking group want to try CoMaps because it works well offline and doesn't feed their location to Google. The OSM data is up to date and there's Wikipedia info.

@jzb Can I point at the veritable avalanche of donations that have gone to @ThePSF over the last week?
