@strypey The current approach was chosen to reduce complexity in testing/debugging calls EG just yesterday it became clear that ios 14 and 15 have differences with one being able to receive a video call, the other not. Not to speak of Android and Ubuntu Touch which have their own set of challenges.

As to WebRTC, it's not set in stone. We are in continuing discussions with @n0iroh folks to switch in their evolving P2P networking stack that is already used for #webxdc realtime communications.

Not taking Venture Capital money means:

- No pressure to maximize monetization of usage (for every million of VC funding you need to find ~100+ Million in value later).

- No prioritization of growing fast with PR campaigns that promise the moon and stumble on the ground

- No billionaire who ultimately profits

Instead, we seek public funding and private contributions for #chatmail #deltachat and #webxdc developments.

It had to happen: in-chat multi-player #Quake III Arena #webxdc app, running over @n0iroh and using the fine work of https://ioquake3.org/ folks. Quake3 app is 1.2MB but you need to download once a game file of ~50 MB. It's only one level.

Realtime-P2P-networked multiplayer gaming arranged through securely end-to-end encrypted email, from a group chat!

Both Quake3's in-game chat as well as game play messages have forward-secrecy. What a weird future, eh? :)
