As Hurricane Melissa sweeps through the Caribbean, we express our solidarity with the victims whose lives and homes have been lost to its devastation.

Extreme weather events like these get stronger and more frequent as the climate crisis worsens.

Big oil companies have known for decades that their actions will cause damage on a global scale.

They should pay for the damage that they have caused.

@greenpeace I remember the days that solidarity wasn't just something you "expressed", but actually showed through actual actions.

Expressed solidarity does as much as thoughts and prayers: it makes you feel better about yourself without actually contributing.

@Bxl_foodie Thanks John. We're trying and doing a lot but it's hard for us to share everything on all social media platforms. Earlier today some of our activists were standing outside Shell plc’s HQ in London, calling out their record profits while people in Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba and the Bahamas face the fallout of this Category 5 storm.

(This morning Shell reported profits of more than $43bn for the year so far)
