@madeindex it's true though. People have been robbed when on holiday because they publicise where they are i.e. not home. Or I'm pretty sure i've heard of that. Actually reminds me: some people have their automatic lights on to make it seem like someone is home but I read about ex-thieves who said they looked for those because it suggested laziness to them. If we wanted to go to films we could say the Wet Bandits did the same thing. But that's another matter entirely.

@madeindex hahaha .. I see that was not a reference now to the computer lights. I thought I might have said something about it but I've been so bloody tired and waking up at stupid o'clock (consider: sleeping in significantly is two!) that I'm not sure what I've said to whom or what I've even done in full. Moving lights for homes eh? Interesting although I guess that still wouldn't help much. Another thing is...what a complete waste of electricity. That reminds me of something fun...

@madeindex for some years a guy in Alaska had his house wired up online and you could control all his Christmas fairy lights. I think sometimes people were competing. It was fun to see. You had the complete control and it showed the house. Fun but can't imagine how they coped with it and the cost must have been astronomical. I love fairy lights but not to put up myself; just to see, mostly in rich neighbourhoods as they have some AMAZING displays. Some are hilarious and one .... well...

@madeindex either last year or the year before someone was having work done at their home and so they had a portable toilet outside their home. Did they let that get in the way of decoration? No they did not! They put a Father Christmas paper or something so it looked like he was on the bog hahaha. I got pictures of course. When I was a kid we had MANY Xmas decorations inside but my cat Smokey would destroy them utterly. He climbs in the tree and we've had to replace it due to broken branches.

@madeindex hahaha I actually did exactly that. I mean if I'm forced to get the ARGB fans why not get a controller? I didn't know it did this until I installed it yesterday morning but it's fun. Since it's (maybe said this) a server/workstation hybrid board (in fact it even allows ECC, has BMC and others though I disabled BMC so I could control more locally .. and even server settings in BIOS) it doesn't have an ARGB header but the controller was cheap and by the same company: #fractaldesign.

@madeindex and I love the case. I'm never going with a non XL again! The space in it on all sides of the motherboard is so helpful (okay so not the part that goes to the backplate but that's obvious). I wish my board had 8 SATA ports (has 4x and an SFF port with 4x but I don't have an SFF cable) but since I'm going to have more than 8 anyway I got a SATA card. Means longer cables. Unfortunately the cables I got are too tall (slightly) so I can't use all the cables. I'll have to fix that later.

@madeindex well it's not that it doesn't work. I just don't enjoy putting computers together. I never have. At least this time it went relatively smoothly - minus the fact that Intel no longer supports booting off disks that are not GPT. That was really stressful and now all the disks are GPT. My fingers are always rough after a build too. Doesn't help I have very dry hands I suppose. There are just a lot of things I don't like but this is probably my favourite build at least.

@madeindex okay here it is. #Christmas #toilet #Santa Father Christmas...so rude.

Portable toilet on someone's front garden during Christmas time. They decorated it so it looks like Father Christmas is sitting on it.

@madeindex the fans in the front are not ARGB right now - I changed things out today. But in time they will be.

@madeindex not sure what colour you would call this. It might have been in transition or maybe it was when it's multiple colours.

@madeindex here is when it's on green lights. The room lights were off. About the only way you can see in it. I'm not good at cable management but the case size allowed for quite good cable management all considered. Those are 2x140mm, 1x120mm at the top and 1x140mm at the back. It'll be 4x120mm at front and top and 1x140mm later on.

Inside of a Fractal Design Define 7 XL case with ARGB fans on green (because the ARGB fans are much cheaper so I decided to get a controller - board is a workstation/server hybrid so no header - as I might as well).

@madeindex actually I hate building computers. I mean I REALLY HATE it. But it was more rewarding this time due to the larger case I guess. Also the fact I'm expanding things this time. The lights are a nice thing but only chosen due to the cheaper cost. I do have some pictures but I'm not sure how good they are. The fans are not maxed out either on that and the window is dark tinted. I can share a few but I don't really have good pictures for now.
