@smallcircles@social.coop I don't think the F in FOSS is the thing you're looking for. The title of the article you linked also does not seem to include the F. This is about open source, not free software. Open source is the corporate bootlicker variant, where you just publish the source code under a license which allows a company to take it and create proprietary software with it.
Free software intends to make software freedom available to all, using viral licenses which extend the four freedoms to everyone, at all times. If the companies were forced to use free software, they'd be required to publish their source code as well, for the betterment of everyone in society. We could all learn and improve, rather than simply sponsor major corporations to fuck us all over.
There's a big difference between free software and open source, and murkying the waters as your post attempts is only benefiting the companies that you complain about.
