It's very easy to discover and follow PeerTube accounts & channels from Mastodon:

1. Go to a PeerTube site (e.g. https://fedi.video )
2. On the account or channel you want to follow, click ⧉. This copies its Fediverse address.
3. Paste the Fediverse address into the search box in Mastodon etc. This makes the profile appear within Mastodon and you can just click "Follow".

To easily and safely discover high quality PeerTube stuff, have a look at https://fedi.video

Screenshot of what happens when you paste the PeerTube channel's Fediverse address into Mastodon etc. The profile of the PeerTube channel has appeared in the search results within Mastodon, and there is a follow button next to it which you can click to follow it from within Mastodon. If you can't see a follow button, click on the profile name to see its profile and click follow there.

Below the screenshot is a caption saying "Click Follow to follow the channel or account".

Still tryna figure out why, when I try to follow my #PeerTube account from my Mastodon account it gives me this error ”422Mastodon::PrivateNetworkAddressError”

@crispius

You might want to ask on the PeerTube forum, they've helped me when I've had trouble with my own PeerTube server: https://framacolibri.org/c/peertube/38

@FediTips

If someone I follow boosts a peertube post, do I see it?

@kevinrns

Yes, it works exactly like boosting any other post.

I run an account at @FediVideo that is entirely about boosting PeerTube posts 🙂

p.s. After you follow a PeerTube account or channel, its latest videos will start showing up as posts in your Mastodon etc timeline just like any other post.

You can comment on a video by just replying to the post it showed up in. The replies in Mastodon automatically turn into comments below the video in PeerTube.

You can like a video by just ⭐ favouriting the post it showed up in. The favourites in Mastodon automatically turn into thumbs up on the video in PeerTube.

@FediTips There's one problem: Mastodon doesn't show the description of the PeerTube video, only the title.

@Stefan_S_from_H

Yeah, I think this is a choice by Mastodon rather than PeerTube? But you can see the full description by cliicking the video's link.

@FediTips Liking, favoriting, commenting... a post through whatever service, is Fediverse's life. It's why I love this approach to Internet communication. It's all about "old times" when it was normal to call or send a message without caring of where the person was. To be more precise, "old times" meant paying to talk from an operator to another. But now we have the tech to make interoperability affordable.

@talksina

Yeah! It's really cool that different services on the Fediverse talk to each other. It's how the internet is supposed to be!

@FediTips I’m just a user but I can’t seem to find anyone I want to watch on PeerTube when I search in it. I see videos here on mastodon that I like and search for that content and get nothing. Am I missing something? For example I can’t find anyone submedia content and I know it exists on peer tube along with many other related projects. Also I think I may have created an account with PeerTube in its beta that isn’t connected to my mastodon account. Help ! I’m not ebven an old you tuber so I’m not even wired for YouTubes universe. Meaning I don’t have tech bias just ignorance I’m pretty sure
