"What we've found out is that games and how they work has deteriorated way faster than what we thought. And we are not talking only about the game not launching. We are talking about more subtle things as well, like the game not supporting modern controllers, or the game not supporting ultra-widescreen or modern resolutions, or even a simple thing like not being able to minimise the game, which is an essential feature today."

@jbz

I'll be frank, I'm legitimately surprised that they are surprised by any of these things. Those were all things that were problems even at their respective times. Things used to be very finnicky and they still aren't really 100% not today (like I ran one game that would randomly just stop accepting my gamepad at random intervals for no apparent reason. It was in Unity and it was the only Unity game that ever has done this to me...)

Not being able to alt-tab or minimize is an ancient issue. People used to actually disable the "Windows" key to avoid bumping it because games would crash. Ironically this the modern "borderless fullscreen" actually partially solves.
