@wdlindsy In other countries, dictatorships have collapsed when the armed forces stopped obeying orders. I'm not saying that's necessarily what will happen here, but it's a possibility.
The problem is that it creates a power vacuum and all the uncertainty that entails.
Greg Olear reports that he became aware of the horrifying events happening in Chicago on Oct. 2 from an email sent to him the next morning. But:
"When I ran a Google search, I found that no one else seemed to have picked up the story. The big legacy-media outlets were yammering about God knows what, none of it remotely as important as this illegal operation."

"Reporters on the ground are documenting raids that resemble military operations, and yet many large media companies are ignoring the story entirely or burying it under lighter news.
There appears to be an unofficial blackout around the ICE raids, as if acknowledging them too directly would be politically inconvenient or too disturbing for audiences.
