Grow Your Own Services 馃尡

Mastodon's moderation could be greatly improved by a system to automatically flag posts containing certain words, phrases or links.

It would allow admins to instantly see problematic content (abuse, spam, etc) without having to wait for reports from users. It doesn't have to automatically take action, just flag it.

There's an existing issue in Mastodon's Github. If you are comfortable using Github, give it a thumbs up if you want this feature: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/21306

@tek at this point I think I've gotta start a list of pet issues in Mastodon and Fedilab to periodically exhort people to vote for 馃槅

just filtering based on words is NOT a good idea.

you can report bad stuff on fedi anyways. and an actual human will look at it instead of a computer. the computer being the thing that evaluates reports is the problem.

@homegrown this could be done in separate (and really simple) service, since Mastodon supports webhooks on status creation

But this will just make people cens*r 芦bad禄 words to avoid moderator attention. Like they already do in algorithm-drived social media. And this sucks even more
