As you know I wrote a wall of text yesterday night in response to those accounts, complete with all the evidence I could gather.

But I deleted it after reading your reply.

Those folks don’t need rational explanations.

They don’t even need data.

They have irredimably rotten minds and rotten hearts and all they can do is spit poison anyway.

All we can do is show a real video with a real human face suffering in the real world, and leave those anonymous folks to count shadows in pictures or share memes with Arafat covered in blood. People with a functioning brain and a functioning heart will hopefully understand by themselves who’s in the wrong.

A part of me thought that after seeing real people from Gaza on this platform they would have softened their stance to avoid public outrage. The Fediverse gave real Palestinian a dignified presence online that dismantled all of their dehumanization efforts, I thought. But no, even when you show them that there are real people in Gaza they’ll tell you that it’s not true. That real Palestinians don’t even exist, only Hamas exists. That the IDF is currently bombing a city where nobody lives. That we’re actually talking to Myanmar scam factories. Their efforts at dehumanization never stop.

The fact that they have thrown the antisemitism hashtag also at some of the Gaza Verified profiles and publicly shamed and ridiculed them puts them firmly in the deepest circle of hell.

When I saw a couple of recent cases I thought that we were just dealing with tinfoil hats.

But after seeing the tinfoil hats and some notorious serial genocide denialists comment and boost each other’s posts we must conclude that there’s just no good faith in this. We’re just dealing with necrophiles who like to jerk off at the view of dismembered human bodies here, and antisemitic is just the name they like to give to whoever condemns their perversion. The fact that they still have any presence on the Fediverse keeps baffling me.

@aral @joynewacc I ask in good faith, but how can you guarantee through a video call that they actually live in Palestine and are not just random people pretending to live there?

I appreciate your work, I just would like to know how you avoid fraud regarding this.

@aral @joynewacc there is a certain type of person who prefers to feel cleverer than anyone else by never believing anything, to making the effort of helping people while running the risk of sometimes being wrong. Unfortunately that type of person seems to be overrepresented in tech and on Mastodon

@aral @joynewacc Thank you for doing your amazing work. I know it is difficult. I helped raise funds for one friend in Rafah, and while most people were pretty good, there was, of course, one guy (a dude from Israel) questioning whether my friend was real, and even if he was, the routes out of Rafah were blocked. He went to my friend’s website, posted a photo of him, trying to make the effort questionable. This dude failed, we raised the money, and my friend and his family are in Cairo.
