I am not notable enough for Wikipedia. Thank goodness

As of today, I am officially not notable enough for Wikipedia.

And I am delighted.

I briefly worked with someone who had a Wikipedia entry. A complete knobhead.

@span neil I suspect the "editors" approaching you for money were not real Wikipedia editors.

@span neil @span wendyg cold emails about writing for Wikipedia for money are almost always a scam.

Non-cold emails are to/from PR firms, which work for scummy/sleazy/infamous people, who want to whitewash their reputation. The firms almost never disclose their paid editing, which is against enwiki rules.

Both phenomena are bad for humanity. Information on Wikipedia and trust in it are suffering from a kind of "tragedy of the commons" (there's probably a better designation, but you get my point).

@span neil I AM notable enough for the Hebrew/Israeli Wikipedia but knowing very well how the Israeli Wikipedia Community behaves, I demanded that there will be no page about me. I will take care of my reputation by myself thank you very much.

@span neil My name is on Wikipedia on what is effectively the obituary of a former business partner. Awkward.
