Does it have a sign that you aren't allowed to take them because only the contractor can do that? My local landfill electronics table does.
And let's be honest, it was never going to give me grief about being out of cyan.
I recall a period about a decade ago (been a while since I bought a new printer) where there were a lot of printers that were cheaper to buy new than buy ink refills for.
It does seem like it ought to be possible to make computerized equipment that doesn't need to be as fast or sophisticated as one's gaming rig, like printers, built more for durability than speed.
