This is my version of the Soldersmoke direct conversion receiver mixer and audio diplexer board. Missing an inductor that arrives tomorrow and then I can test it. Still have two boards to go. Not going to win any beauty awards with mine, but I’ll be happy if it works! This was about 4 hours of work, mostly spent laying out the board and then fiddling with trifilar windings. Learned some stuff though. #HamRadio #AmateurRadio

@relistan If you’re looking for more sensitivity in the future, consider changing diodes to lower forward drop “signal diodes” such as 1n914, etc. Rectifiers will work as well (with signal diodes working a little better)… Keep having fun! 73
@n8dmt thanks Gary, I’ll maybe give that a try once it’s working. I thought Schottky diodes were a little odd. But that’s what they specified. I have a bag of rectifier diodes. But, next order from Mouser or RS, I’ll get some 1n914s. Thanks! 73

@relistan Just keep going with what you have for now… later when all glued together as a complete receiver and working on “improvements”, maybe try as an option. You can discern differences at that point (harder with just a sub-stage at this point). Great progress there, and lots of learning too…
@n8dmt yeah for sure. I’m not changing anything until I have it working. Videos show that it works pretty well. But good to know the options.
