The world is splitting into nationalist / fascist movements and more progressive / humanist movements.

It's weird to see tech do the same thing. Look at any job board and you can see the fascist-aligned startups and the progressive ones.

The funding, unfortunately, is disproportionately choosing the nationalist path.

@ben People with money love panopticons and micromanagement. They don't believe in employee happiness or agency or autonomy.

If they had the option of forcing us into a Borg hive focused only on their personal profits and pleasures, they wouldn't hesitate to do it.

@ben Please stop equating fascism and nationalism. Nationalism kills empires, fascism builds them.

An attempt to equate the two without considering the problem of colonization is intellectually dishonest.

@ben It's time for society to do the same.

Not that the fascists would live in peace mind you. The want to oppress and dominate you if you fit their "live" criteria; kill you if you don't. That is why -every- progressive nation needs a MAD program, like, -right now.- Mutual destruction is the best deterrent for evil.

@ben Mussolini originally called his ”third way” corporatism.

The problems really start when business and state power start to become the same thing.

Even #FOSS what percentage of contributors do you see acting as a collective, without a name or even an individual/coder's nickname. So it is about speculative personal gain, a contributor for hire out in the marketplace, for the IBM/RH/APples/Googles to shop for.

Or did you have an illusion it is all free of selfish interests and for the improvement of humanity?

#FOSS a job or business opportunity finding board

You are equating very different and unequal things, to act in good faith and not say opposites.

The fascist nationalist with funding from the oligarchy have a military machine in their exclusive use and direction, the progressive ones are split on the decision if they should ever attempt to crate such, let alone fund it.

Yet, it is unthinkable these days to ask people to organize on any issue without the prospects of individual gains in power and wealth....

because things like fedi and decentralization are about competition and threaten their power while algos/AI promise them so much more control.
