Eerie Linux posted an extensive introduction to using CP/M that assumes no previous knowledge of early operating systems. They also link to other posts they wrote on the evolution of CP/M.

@amoroso FYI, if you want some amazing hardware for CP/M, the Agon Light 2 is probably the best you can currently get.

It runs:

* eZ80 processor with 128KB flash 8KB SRAM
* 512KB external SRAM
* ESP32-D4-PICO co-processor for IO

Here's my guide for setting up a development environment for it, which includes an emulator which you could try CP/M in:

https://github.com/andymccall/agon-development

A red Agon Light 2 main board in the metal case with the lid off allowing you to see the components such as the ez80 CPU. There's a blue VGA connector plugged into it's VGA port and a USB cable plugged into it, along with power. It's sat on a light wooden desk with cables in the background.

@andymccall Thanks, I have a Z80-MBC2 and a V20-NBC that run CP/M-80 and CP/M-86.

@amoroso that's awesome! I've been wanting to build a computer myself for a while.

I've put the parts for a RC2014 in a basket, then chickened out more times than I can remember 😂

Are you aware of Poking Technology's YouTube channel? He does some good CP/M videos.

@andymccall I have zero hardware skills, so I got preassembled devices.
