Paused my #Lufia2 playthrough to give the #TrailsInTheSky1st demo a spin. It's really impressive in every regard and I hope it'll do well.

'Are there books about Estelle and Joshua?' the eldest asks as we put her to bed after playing #TrailsInTheSky1st for a bit.

My work is done here. ablobcatbongo

D'oh, I knew I had something to download this evening 😅

Are you getting the full game when it releases?

@Rakun Maybe, probably! I'm not really in the mood to replay it, so I'll probably watch my wife's playthrough.

I tried the demo briefly, and it looks like they did a new English translation?

While closer to the Japanese, I found at least the intro was missing a lot of the texture of the original Japanese text.

Also, the first English translation was adding its very own flavor to the mix and was certainly one of the ingredients that made me love the Sky trilogy.

Somehow the French translation looks a bit more savory for once?

@Rakun I haven't played the game in English since the PSP version, but the new translation is definitely more faithful. They 'restored' NPC names (Armand and Ellie are now Areum and Aria IIRC). Stuff like Esmelas Tower got changed to Jade Tower, too.

Maybe that was just the intro and the requirement to have short subtitles so most people can read them, but it felt like only the bare minimum to understand the conversation between Estelle and Cassius was translated, leaving out a lot of the "texture" of the Japanese, for lack of a better word.

This comes as a shock when coming from the previous translation that was adding a lot of additional--not present in the Japanese--texture, and a very distinctive voice.
