"Hawke’s Bay police say they are using thermal binoculars and drones to track down illegal hunters."

Well that doesn't remind me of Sleeping Dogs at all.

Especially considering that these "illegal hunters" are most likely people struggling to feed their families in a climate of politically planned impoverishment. So this is yet another example of criminalising people for being poor.

But why are they on private land, you ask? I'm guessing this "private" land is covered in thick bush and contiguous with public reserves, with no clear demarcation lines between the 2. I'm just imagining donut-inhaling cops spying on people from "bad families" who are "known to the police", whenever they go into the bush to hunt. Then pouncing on them whenever they inadvertantly cross an invisible border onto nonpublic land.
