These two Nectarines were grown here on Skye. They were a gift from our next door neighbours who grew them in their Polytunnel.

A polytunnel is a tunnel typically made from steel and covered in polyethylene, usually semi-circular in shape. The interior heats up because incoming solar radiation from the sun warms plants, soil, and other things inside the building faster than heat can escape the structure.

I thought I’d celebrate the gesture with a photograph…

Nectarines are smooth-skinned stone fruits, often described as a smooth-skinned peach. They are a genetic variant of the peach, and are known for their sweet, juicy flesh and vibrant colours. Nectarines are enjoyed both fresh and in cooked dishes like desserts, sauces, and jams. I ate these just as they were as an alternative to cake with a lot of Earl Grey at tea-time.
