As someone who lives in Wales and likes #linguistics it bothers me how all the @cwtch promotional and explanatory material mispronounces the word.
The vowel is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Near-close_near-back_rounded_vowel, the vowel in "book", not [ʌ] or whatever sound they are making in the two videos on the front page.
I have never heard a Welsh speaker pronounce it that way.

@light @cwtch

I have definitely lost much of my accent over the decades, but I grew up in Wales, and read/wrote/spoke Welsh throughout my school years, and have used "cwtch" in both Welsh and Welsh-English contexts for as long as I can remember (and there is a natural difference in how the word sounds in either context)

I consider the pronunciations close enough, especially given the international nature of the collaboration.

This is how I would probably say it if I were to introduce it to someone.
Does this sound right?
I am have been fairly all over the world in my early years. Born in Japan, moved to Hawai'i, and then Wales where we settled down. My mother is English in Wales while my dad is American.
I'm not sure where you would place my accent.
