Ah, its @EUCommission making a mockery of #democracy again by pushing #ChatControl for the Nth time. The misguided deceitful #Orwellian overreach regulation no one wants. Good way to erode some more of that much needed #trust of civilians in #politics.

And of course:

> #EU politicians exempt themselves from this #surveillance under "professional secrecy" rules. They get #privacy. You and your family do not. Demand fairness.

@EUCommission

I feel and consider myself an #EU citizen, and I want to love and embrace the EU democratic system. See it mature further and improve. But with all these shenanigans going on all of the time, it gets no further than a love/hate relationship.

These continuous #ChatControl 馃枙up-yours to EU residents, and a whole range of other similar issues - the dystopic and murky side of the EU regulators, the ugly side - are tremendously detrimental to what the #EuropeanUnion wants to achieve.

@brejoc @EUCommission

Yes indeed. A group of power brokers with vested interests that go way against democratic interests, most likely. EU regulators should be very wary for these types as they are the potential destroyers of democracy from within. I hope and pray that EC is deeply aware of the concerted assault on democracy and increasingly realises that 'ye olde ways of doing things' are up for some modernization, and listen to the many ideas and initiatives of the people to help with that.

It's interesting to consider the role of tech in all this. We always introduce tech as progress, dumping it into society. It has created a perfect chaotic environment where poor politicians can no longer cope with stuff. Bringing the same info overload and misinformation barrage that we're all exposed to all day long. Tech has truly run amok. But there's hardly knowledge and expertise to reign it in. Instead the urge is to throw yet more tech at a problem, making it worse.

@brejoc @EUCommission

The doom & gloom in society weighs as a lodestone on the shoulders of everyone who cares for the future, and it is enticing to turn ones back to it. To tune out. I see many in tech, the real good folks, pondering retreat into simple life far away from tech.

Yet I think it is crucial to always have hope, and work with optimism in the direction of solutions. Even if only with the tiniest of steps of progress, just giving ones 2 cents of care for the common cause.
