Now, belatedly and rather than lamenting and admitting their abdication of pastoral leadership, a few bishops are filing lawsuits to try to curb the cruelty of the administration, its attacks on immigrants, its destruction of aid programs, etc.
Too little, too late, and entirely unsystemic, this piecemeal approach of filing lawsuits. Grimm says,
"The sad truth is that the bishops must rely upon lawyers because they no longer are able to lead America’s Catholics."
