Chi Onwurah, Labour MP for Newcastle upon Tyne Central/West and chair of parliament’s Science, Innovation & Technology select committee is merely the latest to argue that the UK's long-term economic malaise is a direct result of the economic concentration in London & the SE.

As he says: If the SE's ' parochialism is left undisturbed we will remain two countries when it comes to productivity & output - suffering economic stagnation while staring at the solution'.
