This 1958 BMW Isetta 300 was acquired by the seller in 2018 and later underwent a refurbishment that included replacing the front door, overhauling the suspension and brakes, and refreshing the engine and transmission. The car is finished in red and white over red and white vinyl upholstery and is powered by a 298cc single paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a folding canvas sunroof, 10″ steel wheels, sliding side windows, chrome bumpers, a luggage rack, a bench seat, a cabin heater, and a rear parcel shelf.

As I always do when I post an Isetta, I will now post the story of how in 1963 a man smuggled his friend out of East Germany by hiding him inside the engine compartment of his tiny Isetta.

@jalefkowit Now that sounds uncomfortable. At least Gordievsky was smuggled out of the Soviet Union in a luxuriously spacious Ford Sierra saloon.

"Just before he became leader of the Labour Party in 1983, Neil Kinnock became the owner of one of the first Sierras produced for the British market, but his car was wrecked in a crash on the M4 motorway in Berkshire soon after he bought it.

In 1986, the founder of the Williams Formula One team, former racing car driver and mechanic, Sir Frank Williams crashed whilst driving a rental Ford Sierra in France, rendering him tetraplegic.

Willem-Alexander, then Prince of the Netherlands, crashed his Sierra XR4x4 in 1988 in the city of Leiden where he attended the university as a student."
