@dansup I would really love to have the geo tagging feature fixed. There is only the hardcoded list of locations. And in the mobile app you can’t use it at all. Is that on the agenda anytime soon?
@nickinzon Yeah, we're removing the hardcoded list and will make the field freeform!
@dansup quick question: I tweaked my firewall somewhat yesterday to block Netflix, Meta, Google and Amazon domains.
Looks like it impacted Pixelfed, too: upon opening the app (IOS) it wont‘t find posts. When disabling the firewall, it will work again.
I suspect it‘s due to one of the Google domains (or Amazon/AWS?) - as these are many: could you tell which IP-Domains are needed? Or may it depend on the instance (pixelfed.de)?

@poldemo Yeah it depends on the instance, I'm not sure who pixelfed.de uses as a hosting provider
@dansup sorry for bothering again - while pixelfed.de does use Hetzner as provider I checked access via the web/browser interface from the iPhone (Firefox) - here it works fine with all firewall rules enabled.
Trying then the IOS-App I again can‘t access posts (just my profile, but it won‘t show pics from posts („no posts yet“)) - (same with pixelfed.social).
So it still seems it’s within the app?

@dansup Are the frontend and backend updates coming out simultaneously?
@grosser_mensch It will likely be the backend release first as the new frontend depends on some new APIs.

Is adding a thumbnail for videos on Pixelfed in the roadmap? It would be great if we could select an image or frame as a cover to our videos.
