The Matrix is not meant to be taken literally, of course. It refers to any manufacturer of dairy products. But seriously ...
The Matrix is a meditation on the power of symbols, among other things. In that world, by letting the AI do all our thinking, humans gave away their power.
In our world, by letting Trained MOLEs do our thinking for us, we give away our power to the people in control of MOLE Training. Plus MOLEs can't think, just generate plausible sentences. Not a great plan.
