Step 2: change default browser to Brave and install the #iCloud#Passwords Chrome extension, so I can (for now) access all my passwords and verification codes from iCloud. Just used that to authorise Mastodon macOS/iPadOS app to run on my refurbished Mac Mini M2, and write this post!

@1br0wn Brave is a far better choice, but I think @Vivaldi is another excellent one for others looking to mimic this effort πŸ‘

Step 3: turned off #iCloud syncing of calendar, notes, contacts etc. in favour of local syncing (first time via USB from my mac Mini, then after that by WiFi). Clunky, but works. Might switch to an alternative #E2EE service, like Proton or fastmail, soon

Already very impressed by their collaborative document editing tool and Drive. I see I need a paid account to sync my calendars across devices. Considering it… πŸ€‘
