The #opensource phenomenon is now decades old. There are countless developments, successes and failures, adoption and cooption. Still nerd territory but somebody should write a book about it as this is one of the most remarkable positive behaviors in an otherwise mostly regressive timeline.

My top-three inflection points:

#linux, the foundation of everything

#python, democratizing the fearsome algorithm

#activitypub, the (still mostly unfulfilled) binding of digital society

@strypey lamp is a bit of cheat as it bundles lots of things together 😄 but yeah, despite at least a decade of hyperventilation and shinny new things, the LAMP stack still sets the benchmark for how to change the world. Where to even start: #wordpress, #nextcloud, #mediawiki, #moodle etc. And php, much maligned early on still goes strong in projects like #laravel and friends.
