Many of us have artists - be they musicians, writers, painters, - or film makers whose works become part of our lives over the years. We have read all of their works, own all their music and listen and read over and over again. It is almost as if they become our friends, even though we have never met them. And when they die, we feel a sadness as if someone we know has passed, such is the relationship we have formed over the years with these artists. That is how I feel on reading the news that Béla Tarr, the Hungarian film maker has died. I have seen all of his films, many several times and he has long been my favourite film director. Sadder too to learn he was younger than me, if even only by a handful of months.
RIP/Nyugodjon békében! Béla.
