Art is only an illusion on the surface, with deep meaning below.
Power projects deep meaning on its surface, but is only an illusion deeper down.
I started to compare this to the defining solarpunk post and got side-tracked when I couldn't find it. (The concept of punk is similarly explored in the movie SLC Punk.) That post (and the movie) makes it very clear that punk is NOT an aesthetic. (Neither is an art movement!) Punk can (and arguably should) be lived as a lifestyle. I consider myself to be striving for a solarpunk life. There are serious values as part of the solarpunk ethos. We don't do it to be cool, but we (or I at least) hope it will become cool so that more people are exposed to its ideals so we can make a real future from it.
Paperclippunk is not that.
And now I see why they spell it with a hyphen. Without it, it looks ridiculous. Even with it, it IS ridiculous at its core. And not even in the meaningful anti-meaning way of Dadaism!
It's stuff made by vapid people who want to be adored without putting in the work.
