In 2023 chief priest Nishikawa Genbō (西川玄房) spelt out 'banri seifū no aki' (万里清風秋), a zen phrase that might be translated as "when you get rid of earthly desires, a fresh breeze blows in your heart".
If you look closely the '万' and '里' are written on lanterns.
2024's zen phrase was inspired by the October full moon, celebrated as one of the most beautiful in Japan.
As the event coincides with 'jūsanya' (十三夜), guests are invited to enjoy the "pines illuminated by the bright moon"...
