Here's the picture from the seminar of the Czech Association for Social Anthropology.

We really wondered whether anyone would show up for an event commencing at 17:00 on Friday. And yet, there was a lovely crowd both on-site and online.

The turnout was amazing. I was impressed to see how many of today's students are interested in ethnographic cinema!

Kudos to everyone involved in putting this great event together (not an easy task considering the current political climate in #Slovakia)

On Monday, 25/11, I've been invited to have a lecture + screening during one of the "Audiovisual Ethnomusicology Days" organised by the Università degli Studi di Cagliari (Sardinia). The programme is curated by my dear colleague Marco Lutzu.

The screening starts at 15:45 on the Campus Sa Duchessa. Diego Cavallotti and Paolo Bravi will come to discuss the film with me.

On Thursday, 14/11, the film will be shown at this traditional event, in which many of my great colleagues working in the field of Romani studies from across Czechia and Slovakia participate (I highly recommend checking the entire programme! => https://uesa.sav.sk/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/ARS-2024_program.jpg)

The screening of Hopa lide starts at 18:15, and the discussion after is moderated by one and only Alica Sigmund Heráková.

On Tuesday, 12/11, the film will be screened at one of the oldest film festivals in Slovakia, which has been bringing ethnographic films to the public eye since the 1980s.

It will be screened in a block of films that starts at 15:00 on the premises of the Department of Mediamatics and Cultural Heritage, Faculty of Humanities, University of Žilina.
