Free human rights defenders - Free the El Hiblu 3
5 years ago, 100 people were rescued from a sinking boat by the oil tanker, El Hiblu. 3 teenagers, Abdalla, Amara, and Kader, were among those rescued. When the ship turned towards Libya, instead of a safe port north, the survivors started to panic. As the only ones speaking English, the three teenagers mediated between the survivors and the crew and convinced the Captain to turn towards a safe harbour in Malta. Their actions prevented an illegal #pushback to Libya, a place of extreme danger for many.
But when they arrived in #Malta, instead of finding safety, they were met with terrorism charges.
Now 5 years later, The "El Hiblu 3" are still suffering the consequences of this day, facing lengthy prison sentences if convicted. The "El Hiblu 3" have been deprived their freedom, safety, and youth.
We believe the trial should be dismissed. Resisting illegal push-backs to #Libya is not a crime. Free the El Hiblu 3! Solidarity with Abdalla, Amara, and Kader.
