Nonviolence: first approach, ethically good, but stops working when you're getting punched in the face

Violence: last resort, ethically bad unless necessary in which case neutral, what people actually do when they don't see better options

Threat of violence: technically nonviolence, but adversarial; show of force, art of war, etc

Least violence: acknowledging that we live in a world of violence, acting to create as little as possible

(Paraphrasing last #fightLikeAnAnimal podcast)

This has lead to increasingly diversified niche interest groups. Argues thst political appeals to broad categories (e.g. women, working class) not as effective as taking a niche interest + network approach (e.g. furry, tennis)
